Fissure sealing

The term fissure refers to any grooves and lower lying areas of the dental surface. Since tooth decay can form in these fissures they are sealed pre-emptively (fissure sealing). First of all the teeth are cleaned thoroughly. Fissures are then sealed using a thin-flowing composite (plastic). A coffer dam is used for isolation of the area.
